Two familiar Taranaki faces have big plans for the region after joining forces at the top of a charitable foundation.
The pair, as chair and chief executive, say they are rebranding and relaunching the organisation and have projects in the pipeline – but remain tight-lipped for now.
Barnett, who helped the helicopter trust out of financial strife, was approached by the New Plymouth District Council to get involved.
His “passion for this community” drove him to say yes.
“We are the foundation of people's wishes,” Barnett said. “We’d like to think the things we’re going to create will be intergenerational.”
Hickford read the job advertisement to his wife, Alex, who said it sounded like he’d written it and that he had to apply.
The cancer survivor was looking forward to being part of creating something not just for the community now, but for his “children’s children”.
